I can’t help it. I found out about this new drama called Past Life that will premiere mid season on FOX and I got so excited! There’s not a ton of info out about it yet, but it is exactly the kind of show I love to watch!! It’s a little like Medium, Fringe and Mentalist all rolled into one. Yup! It’s my kind of show!
So far, I’ve found a few press photos and a synopsis of the show. It’s not much, but it can get us started thinking about the show. I’ll update you as more details emerge about it.
Here’s the summary:
Have you ever experienced déjà vu or met someone you thought seemed familiar? Do you believe in karma, fate or love at first sight? From writer David Hudgins (“Friday Night Lights”), and inspired by the book “The Reincarnationist” by M.J. Rose, comes PAST LIFE, a new drama series about an unlikely pair of past-life detectives who investigate whether what is happening to you today is the result of who you were before. DR. KATE MCGINN (Kelli Giddish, “All My Children”) is not your typical psychologist. Confident, outspoken and highly educated, she works at The Talmadge Center for Behavioral Health in New York City, a world-renowned institute dedicated to the study of the science of the soul. After experiencing a past-life regression in her 20s, Kate became a believer in reincarnation. Using regression therapy and her natural gift for reading people, Kate helps solve the mysteries of her troubled clients who suffer from present-day problems caused by past-life traumas. She believes there are levels of consciousness and explanations for human behavior that science can’t begin to explain. Accustomed to skeptics, but not bothered by them, Kate is an unapologetic believer and a force of nature who marches to the beat of her own drummer. Her partner, PRICE WHATLEY (Nicholas Bishop, “Home and Away”), is a different story. A former NYPD homicide detective, pragmatic and cynical, Price is a damaged soul who constantly battles grief and guilt over the accidental death of his wife. Price feels that Kate, though not certifiable, certainly operates on the fringes of science. It’s a volatile relationship, but with Price’s solid detective skills, and Kate’s penchant for out-of-the-box thinking, together they make a formidable, if somewhat dysfunctional, team. A fast-paced emotional thrill ride, each episode finds Price and Kate working with their colleagues to unravel a new mystery involving the past-lives of their clients. DR. MALACHI TALMADGE (Richard Schiff, “The West Wing”) is Kate’s mentor and the center’s namesake, an avuncular but gruff elder statesman who is a legend in the field of cognitive research. DR. RISHI KARNA (Ravi Patel, “Scrubs”) is the rookie of the group, a baby-faced therapist from Calcutta who loves bad American TV, Cuban jazz and driving everyone crazy.

Here’s the latest promotional video clip for the new season of Medium. It’s moving to its new network home on CBS and the story picks up where it left off last season.
Allison has had a brain tumor and we don’t know yet how it will affect her psychic gift. I’m guessing she is still psychic, or there wouldn’t be much of a season.
In this clip, all of the show’s cast members are shown and will be back this fall. I like how they give us an overview of the characters and where the show will pick up where we left off.
As I told you a few days ago, I had the opportunity to help interview one of the stars of the new Web series created by NBC. Tony Hale stars in the series CTRL and is a really interesting and seriously nice guy. I had a blast talking to him and think you’ll enjoy what he had to say too. Here’s the conversation:
Q: I was wondering, how were you approached to make this particular short-film into a Web series?
Tony Hale: Sure. We did a – I guess it was about two years ago, Rob Kirbyson, the director, had the idea and wrote the idea of "Ctrl Z". It was a short film that he was producing and he approached me to play Stuart.
And, at that time, he also approached Zachary Levi to play the boss and then Emy Coligado was also playing the girl. But we did the short film and it went to Sundance and the Delta, kind of film competition and fortunately it won. People really liked it so then Tom Bannister and NBC approached Rob to make the short film that we did into a Web series which was really exciting because it was fun with the short film, there was really mainly the focus of “Ctrl Z” which is the undo button.
And with the Web series you can focus on a lot more keys on the keyboard and kind of the power and the magic that could happen with those. So, I thought it was a really fun idea and it turned out to be just a lot of fun so I’m glad it happened.
Q: I’m sure you’re asked a lot but if there was something in your life you could undo, do you have a particular moment or event?
Tony Hale: That is so funny. You think I would have thought of this question before coming into the interview and I just did not.
Let me think, if there’s anything I could undo – usually when I want to undo things it’s like right on the moment because I look to the stuff that I go through in my life and something always comes out for a reason so I’m doing that. But, it’s always that when you say something that’s just so asinine and so stupid, you’re like, ahh, if I could just, please, have an undo button just to not say that. So, it’s usually in the moment but there’s many times I’ve had that moment.
Q: How has you’re comedic style and sense of timing changed since “Arrested Development” do you think?
Today, the Emmy Nominations were announced. There were no real surprises this year. All of the nominees seem very worthy, indeed. It seems like the usual suspects got most of the nominations. When you’re good, it just shows, right?
Here are this years drama series nominations. The Emmy Awards Show will air on CBS on September 20. We’ll just have to wait to find out who wins.
Outstanding Drama Series
Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series
Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series
Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series
Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series
It’s a funny name of a series, right? But that’s because it’s about a guy with a magical keyboard. Everytime he hits the CTRL key, he gets to do the last thing over…a lot like the way a lot of us type.
Imagine the power of being able to change events with a keyboard. I love it! And I think you will too. NBC has created a series of webisodes based on the idea in the movie CTRL Z. The series stars Tony Hale, of Arrested Development and Chuck. He’s a terrific character actor and makes the series ery believable. Well, as much as can be expected, anyway.
Here’s an episode of CTRL:
You can follow the entire series on NBC’s web site, so head over there and check it out. And be sure to return here in the next day or so for my interview with the star, Tony Hale.
If you’ve been watching Nurse Jackie, you know that there’s a nutty mix of characters on the show, including a dim-wit, jerky doctor who is really incompetent and when Jackie tries to confront him about it, he grabs her breast. He says it’s a form of Tourette’s Syndrome and only happens when he’s nervous….are you kidding me?
Listen to Peter Facinelli, who plays the character try to explain his bad behavior:
Fans of Mental are in luck! Here’s a video spoiler for this Friday night’s new episode. In this clip, Mental star Chris Vance tells us a bit about the plot for the episode in his wonderful accent:
From the sound of this Fringe season 2 spoiler from Michael Ausiello, Charlie may be in for some bad luck in the seaosn premiere. I don’t know if he’s actually telling us that Charlie is going to bite the big one, or if he just wants to tease us about it. You be the judge:
Question: Do you have any Fringe news? Pretty please, with a cherry on top that hasn’t been soaked in high fructose corn syrup? –Tyre Ausiello: I hear the opening sequence in the season premiere is going to be killer — and I mean that literally and figuratively. Question: Any tips about the second season of Fringe? –Lolotte Ausiello: I can confirm that Charlie (the exiting Kirk Acevedo) does in fact appear in the premiere. I can also confirm that what happens to him will blow your frakkin’ mind. [Source: EW]

Do you want to see who the newest Law & Order SVU detective is? No problem!
This clip gives us a taste of his obnoxiousness and I just can’t wait to see how he and Elliot interact. I’m guessing that there will be some real emotional fireworks on the show between those two. Check it out:
WOW! I love this new cover art for the season four DVDs of Bones. The package isn’t available until October 6, but we can pre-order it now.
This fun artwork is so cool that there’s no way any Bones fan wants to miss having this in their home collection! I love it!!
