Three Rivers: Show Has Been Pulled From Lineup
Nov 30th, 2009 by Lynn DeVries

Three Rivers logo

CBS is pulling the organ-donation medical drama from Sunday nights effective immediately.

Starting Dec. 6, “Cold Case” will shift to 9 p.m., where it had recently had a trial airing. At 10 p.m., CBS will add repeats of an unspecified crime drama (why, that could by any CBS show!). The network also will have some holiday programming on Sunday nights that could pre-empt both crime programs.

“Rivers” is still in production and the network will complete all 13 episodes of the show’s initial order. Though network sources say no final decision has been made about its future beyond the 13, given the show’s consistent sub-2.0 ratings, fans shouldn’t expect anything more than a burn-off at some point.

Overall, CBS isn’t going to shed tears over “Rivers.” The network had a good fall, with “NCIS: Los Angeles” becoming a hit, “Good Wife” performing well, and “The Mentalist” and “Big Bang Theory” performing strong in new time periods.

So what thematic object from “Rivers” will outraged fans mail CBS you think? Let’s hope it’s not body parts… [Source: Hollywood Reporter]

White-Collar-Spoilers

Question: Thanks for all of the great news about Chuck and Lost. All of this plus you appreciate Santa Barbara, Smurfs, and constantly give incredible scoop. Thanks so much for being you. Any chance you have White Collar scoop? —Jennifer

Ausiello: After all that ass-kissing you just did? You bet I do. In the upcoming Dec. 4 midseason finale, our partners in crime-solving are called onto the case of a missing diamond, only to find Neal at the top of the list of suspects. The winsome swindler tries to clear his name and, in a shocking reveal, finds out he’s not the only one that’s been good at lying. Now tell me what else you like about me. [Source: EW]

Three Rivers: Headed for Cancellation?

Three Rivers

Sundays on CBS

Okay, I was wrong. I thought this show would be a hit for CBS back when it was announced about nine months ago. But it turns out that, without his fangs, Moonlight hunk Alex O’Loughlin just isn’t the attraction I thought he would be. Approximately 8.77 million people tuned in last Sunday, but they were mostly grandmas and grandpas, as the audience yielded a measly 2.1 rating in the adult demo. By contrast, Family Guy had a half-million fewer viewers but a juicy 4.1 rating among adults (and sold tons of Axe Body Spray in the process). That’s what keeps shows on the air. It’s only a matter of time before Three Rivers dries up.
Verdict: In Trouble. Might run out its 13-episode order… if it’s lucky. [Source: TV.com]

Fringe: Is it in Danger of Cancellation?

Fringe logo

Fringe
Thursdays on Fox

I don’t think there is a show this season that has gotten the shaft more than Fringe. Moved to a competitive Thursday-night time slot and preempted by baseball, Fringe has recently hit series lows in the ratings, which prompted fans to fear for its life. But fear not, Fringe folk, Fox likes the show—and it’s obvious. This Observer-week promo isn’t happening because the net is bored, it’s happening because Fox wants the show to survive. And it wants Fringe back for Season Three. And it will be back. And then we’ll meet alternate universe Astrid who will be a major ass-kicker! (I hope)
Verdict: It will be back, and hopefully on another night. [Source: TV.com]

Fringe: Guest Star Spoiler
Nov 19th, 2009 by Lynn DeVries

Fringe-Spoilers

Question: I miss Olivia’s sister and niece on Fringe. Will they be back this year? They showed Olivia’s softer side, something this season is lacking. —Sebastian

Ausiello: The niece is back in this week’s fantastic Observer-themed eppy (the first three minutes of which you can watch here), but Olivia’s sis is MIA. Ari Graynor’s busy movie career keeps getting in the way of a return engagement, but producers aren’t giving up. If the scheduling can be worked out, we will probably see Rachel by season’s end.
