Fans of Burn Notice know him as Michael Westen, the unorthodox character in USA Network’s hit drama. But now he’ll also be known as Director Jeffrey Donovan.
Donovan will be directing the prequel movie for Burn Notice which will star Bruce Campbell. The film will begin shooting in Bogata, Colombia in January and may give us insight into how Westen got into his predicament in the first place. It could fill in many of the gaps in the character’s back story, so it should be well worth watching.
The prequel, set in late 2005, begins after a faction of Columbian rebels makes trouble for the locally stationed military platoon, with Lieutenant Commander Sam Axe (Campbell) being sent down to advise. As the mission unfolds, Sam begins to uncover the dark secrets of the area, learning the truth about sacrifice, deception, and ultimately what’s worth fighting for.
BURN NOTICE creator Matt Nix will write and executive produce. Donovan and Campbell will also serve as executive producers on the Fox Television Studios project alongside Mikkel Bondesen (“Burn Notice”).
