Kyra Sedgwick as The Closer

After establishing itself as the top cable series and opening the door to more series with a strong female lead character, The Closer will be coming to a close after this season. Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson will close her last case for the TNT series soon.

The show’s leading lady, Kyra Sedgwick has decided to call it quits while the show is still strong, at the end of the seventh season. Production on the final season will begin in early 2011 and will air later next year. Ms. Sedgwick commented on the show’s ending:

“I cannot fathom how difficult it will be to say goodbye to the incredible family we’ve created on ‘The Closer’,” Sedgwick said, thanking creator James Duff for “such a rich and complex character who I have loved living year after year.”

You can enjoy the cases of The Closer’s sixth season airing on TNT each Monday.
