There’s a category for the Best Breakout Performance of the year in this year’s Emmy Awards and the scene on True Blood where Bill Compton meets Sookie Stackhouse for the first time is one of the nominations.

TV.com & Vaseline are going to give a special Breakout Performance Award at this year’s Emmy Awards Show. We get to vote for our favorite breakout moment on TV this year and the winning moment will win the Breakout Award during the Emmys on Sunday, September 20 at 8 pm ET.

Here are the moments that have been nominated for the award:

  • David Letterman: Letterman’s interview with oddly-behaving Joaquin Phoenix (CBS)
  • Desperate Housewives: Edie’s tragic death (ABC)
  • Grey’s Anatomy Finale: Meredith is shocked to find out disfigured patient is George (ABC)

  • Entourage: Vincent Chase gets a call from Martin Scorsese offering him a part in the Great Gatsby, saving his career (HBO)
  • American Idol Finale: Kris Allen wins over Adam Lambert (FOX)
  • True Blood: Bill Compton meets waitress Sookie Stackhouse at Merlotte’s Bar for the first time (HBO)

Be sure to go vote for True Blood on this site, then return to vote for the best of the Top 10 Finalists on September 14, and again on September 20 to vote for the Top Three Finalists. Then watch for the award to be presented on the Emmys that night.

Today, the Emmy Nominations were announced. There were no real surprises this year. All of the nominees seem very worthy, indeed. It seems like the usual suspects got most of the nominations. When you’re good, it just shows, right?

Here are this years drama series nominations. The Emmy Awards Show will air on CBS on September 20. We’ll just have to wait to find out who wins.
